Electric Bike Basics – What Are The Parts of an Electric Bike?

An electric bike, also called an electric scooter or e-scooter, is usually a two wheel bicycle with a battery pack added to it to help power the pedals. Electric bicycles are very popular because they are eco-friendly and convenient. They provide great exercise for the person who is too busy to take a conventional bicycle to work or school. Compared to gas-powered automobiles, electric bicycles have less harmful emissions and are far more environmentally-friendly. The electric bike is the fastest growing type of bicycle in the United States.

There are many types of electric bike. A person can choose from the B-cycle or the recumbent bike. In the B-cycle, there is a throttle which lets the rider adjust the pedalling intensity based on how hard he or she wants to pedal; the rider does not have to hold down the pedal as in the case of the recumbent bicycle. The difference in the efficiency of the two is that the B-cycle requires a smaller battery and uses a weaker, lower torque sensor to provide better acceleration.

The recumbent electric bike is easier to ride and more comfortable to ride than the B-cycle. In this type of bike, the rider places his or her feet on the seat and the pedals are lowered into a position just below the knee. The lower half of the bicycle does not has a throttle like the bike in the B-cycle. In this case, the rider has to control the amount of pedalling force with the pedals using a thumb. Since the torque of the motor is directly related to the pedalling force, the more efficient the pedalling the more power the motor will generate, and thus, the more torque the motor can deliver to the cyclist.
